The truth of the matter is, healing one’s relationship with food can’t happen without knowledge and support. Here are my favorite resources.

Books and Cd’s

Intuitive Eating – The Book – For me, this was the book that started it all. While I have come to know that our relationship with food represents so much more than food – it is really about how we live – this book set into motion a journey that I never imagined possible. Not only have I worked through my issues with food but I have also completely changed my life.

Intuitive Eating – The CD – I do honestly think that the book is a little outdated and have really appreciated the condensed version on CD. It is not the book read verbatim like audio books, it is the authors discussing what the principles mean along with vital exercises in making the steps happen. I think it is more assessable and easier to understand.

French Women Don’t Get Fat- A look into the lives of French Women, a real turning point for me in getting rid of the good food, bad food labels. A must read for sure.

Intuitive Eating for Weight Release- This is a meditation/hypnosis CD that has immensely helped me in learning to listen to my body and honor where I am on my path.

Websites

Intuitive Eating Website – The site by the Authors of the intuitive eating book and CD. It has helpful links as well as a simple description of the principles of their book.

Intuitive Eating Counselors – A list of counselors who are certified intuitive eating counselors. (I’ll be on that list soon!!)

Intuitive Eating Newsletter – A newsletter from Evelyn Tribole, one of the Intuitive Eating book authors.

Through Thick and Thin Blog – A blog written by an intuitive eating counselor with wonderful exercise and tips on changing your relationship with food.

Through Thick and Thin Community Forum – A forum started by the same counselor.

Books and Cd’s

Clearing Emotional Blocks – I would honestly say that this CD has been the most essential of all of the resources I have listed on this page. I still listen to it at least twice per week and it helps me, literally, clear my emotional blocks. I listen to it whenever I am feeling stuck and always, always, I feel better or express my emotions in the way that is healthiest for me. It has also been essential in helping me to build my self esteem and use my voice.

Eating in the Light of the Moon – This is the book that I used when I went through a therapy group for women with eating disorders and it has profound insights into why we use food and the real issues beneath our relationship with food.

Women Food and God – Another book of profound proportion. Light bulb moments abound. Honestly, I would recommend anything by this author.
