People have been using magnets for healing purposes since ancient times. But how does it work?
Magnetic energy healing utilizes different types of magnets on your body to increase your health. It’s useful in treating various health conditions.
Types of Magnetic Energy Healing
- Magnetic Therapy with Acupuncture
Here, the magnets go on the same skin sections that an acupuncturist would probably focus on the sessions.
You may hear your acupuncturist call these areas as your energy channels or pathways.
- Electromagnetic Therapy
Here, you use magnets that have an electric charge. Treatment through these magnets comes through an electrical pulse.
- Static Magnetic Field Therapy
Here, you touch the magnet to your skin. You may wear a piece of magnetic jewelry, bracelet or a bandage with a magnet in it.
At times, you may wear a shoe with a magnetic insole. Also, you can sleep on a special mattress with a magnetic pad.
When using a static magnet for pain relief, you must look for a stronger magnet to enjoy the benefits. But how do you know whether the magnet is stable or not?
Test it out by placing it next to a piece of sock or cloth. Place a paper clip on the other side. If the magnet isn’t able to hold the paper clip, then it can’t penetrate your skin or body either.
Alternatively, check the strength of the magnet you intend to buy. You’ll get the measurement in units known as gauss (G). Ideal magnets for pain relief should have anything between 300 to 5000 G. Some therapists start with the lower gauss and gradually increase as the intense levels demand.
How does Magnetic Energy Therapy Work?
Your body naturally has electric and magnetic fields. The molecules in your body have a specific amount of electric and magnetic energy in them.
The idea behind this therapy is that some issues arise in your body because the magnetic fields are out of place. Placing a magnetic field closer to your body helps restore a balance between these fields in your body.
Remember, your body contains different ions. Among them are calcium and potassium. These ions help your body send signals. Studies show that a magnet can alter how these ions act.
Uses of Magnetic Field Therapy
The therapy is used to treat different types of pain, like in your back and feet.
Scientific studies show that the therapy can be used for:
- Wound healing
- Arthritis pain
- Fibromyalgia pain
Before embarking on this therapy, you should consult an expert. The treatment is generally safe for people wearing low-intensity static magnets. However, it’s not a good idea if you’re:
- Having an insulin pump
- Using a pacemaker
Also, remember to remove any magnet before getting an MRI scan or having an x-ray.
Using magnetic energy therapy can expose you to a variety of side effects. Such include the following:
However, side effects are rare.
