Now that I have more time to read and learn from the world around me, I thought I would start sharing with you the things that have brought me inspiration each week, whether it be blogs, articles, books or even recipes.
Online
- One of my newest blog obsessions is The Organic Sister which I found last week while searching for a pancake recipe. They are a family that “unschools” their child and are traveling around the country to just live, be and find a new place to root down. I’m mesmerized by it and this particular post, Nashville Nostalgia is a beautiful expression of emotions and holds a lesson that as a former emotional eater can really appreciate.
- This post from the Unclutterer about simple, uncluttered living being a choice applies to all areas of life, including food, intuitive eating and living with intention.
- This post from Healthy Tipping Point about what it means to eat ethically is a great example of each person making the food choices that work for them, both in mind, body and spirit.
- This post from one of my favorite tweeters and eating disorder awareness bloggers, Voice In Recovery, is an amazing look into fear called what if I let go of fear. Just read it.
Books
Let me preface this by saying that I am a bit of a book whore and am typically reading between five or six books at a time. What can I say, I’m easily distracted.
- I love Paula Deen, as noted by my Paula Deen Challenge but this book has been so eye opening. Paula Deen: It Ain’t All About the Cookin’
is her memoirs where she tells the nitty gritty of her life. You won’t see her the same way anymore.
- Since I’m working from home now, I’ve also been devouring organization and feng shui books like there is not tomorrow. My favorites have been Real Simple: The Organized Home
and 10 Minute Feng Shui
. I have done the best I could with both and we even painted my office a lovely shade of blue.
Recipes
- This recipe for frozen hot chocolate looked so insanely delicious, even as I was reading it at 6 in the morning. I already have modified versions floating around in my head. Jessica, you make me drool, like everyday.
- And how about this Chile Blackberry Syrup from 101 cookbooks. How many thing could you drizzle that on?
So tell me, what have you been reading, writing and eating this week? Please feel free to share links in the comments!
Happy Weekend!

Heheheh … thanks for the shout! :)
I like how you did this, I’m going to check out those blogs right now! Have a great Saturday!
What a fun post. Hmmm..let’s see, what have I been up to this week?Well, I’ve been listening to the Two Fit Chicks podcasts during walks/jogs/work breaks, which I’m really enjoying (and just discovered through you). I’ve been reading Emma by Jane Austen and watching the new to me show,Community (reruns). As for eats…lots of fresh cucumbers, and cold cereal and smoothie breakfasts to keep cool.
I like these kinds of posts because they always lead me to new blogs, interesting reads, etc. Checking out The Organic Sister right now! :)
Thanks for the links. I always like finding new websites to look at! I learn a lot from them. :-)
Easily my proudest post of the week was my guest post on Then Heather Said about finding your own “normal” and definition of healthy.
