Looking Back and Looking Ahead

Happy Sunday, everyone! I hope that your weekends are off to a great start! The dear husband and I are on stay-cation this week so we’ve been going at a lovely, lovely slow pace thus far. I do have a conference call tomorrow for a small fire that cropped up at 5:10 on Friday afternoon but other than that, we are as free as a bird and I am thrilled. We have lots of fun things planned and hopefully lots of blog worthy material to share!

This past week was a great week here on Honoring Health so for those of you that are catching up, here is a little recap for you! I started off the week with a nice bowl of no bake cookie oatmeal that has already received rave reviews. But, really, how could you go wrong with lots of chocolate and peanut butter??

Then, I announced a few changes for me and you all were so supportive. In case you missed it, I announced that I have enrolled in the professional training program at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition to become a Certified Holistic Health Coach. I am so excited about this new phase of my life and all of your praise in the comments, emails, tweets, g-chats and phone calls completely confirmed that this is the right direction for me. I will be certified around this time next year and can not wait to get my counseling practice started!

I also announced that I am experimenting with more raw food recipes and plan to post some of them in addition to my regular recipes. I kicked off that announcement with a recipe for raw kale chips. But, not to worry, if you don’t own a dehydrator, I also provided instructions for a low temperature oven. If you try them, please let me know in the comments and if you post about them, please send me a link!!

And with all of that, I also told you guys my dirty little secret about my house be messy and dirty all the time. I am happy to announce that I have already made a ton of progress and for a few days now, the house has remained nice and tidy. I have been commiting to 15 minutes per day and it is already looking like a different house. One of my sweet readers emailed me and recommend the Sidetracked Home Executives book and I have already gotten some really great ideas from it. The book is surely geared more towards stay-at-home moms and not towards people who work 40+ hours and commute 10 + hours per week like me but I do think I got some great ideas from it. While we are on vacation this week, I plan to implement some of those changes and see how to make this work.  I don’t want my house to be perfect but I also don’t want to pretend we aren’t home when company wants to come either!!

Later in the week, we discussed the ongoing debate about sharing recipes on the web. There were many great responses in the comments and I was glad to hear what you all have to say. The lines are fuzzy and we each have to do what we feel comfortable with. If you didn’t read the post, check it out and let me know where you stand!!

Speaking of recipes, I shared a recipe for Mahi Mahi Tacos with Fresh Salsa that I am still thinking about. I keep thinking of variations for both the fish and the salsa so don’t be surprised if you see more recipes of that nature around here. Fish seems to be the only form of meat that I can easily digest so it is the only thing I have been eating lately so I have to get super creative! If you have a favorite fish recipe, please post a link in the comments or send me an email. If you like, I can even write a recipe review of it. I love writing recipe reviews!

Then, to wrap the week up, I wrote a post about the desire to lose weight. I was touched to see that so many of you commented, emailed and tweeted that you could have written it yourself or that you thought I was speaking directly to you when I wrote it. It is an amazing feeling to know that I can move people in that way but most of all, it just reinforces the notion that we are all in this together! We have to support each other and be honest about where we are and what we are thinking and feeling. If you didn’t read that post, please check it out and let me know if it speaks to you! And remember you are beautiful just the way you are!

And finally, since the post is getting way more long-winded than I ever thought it could, check out my new design! If you are reading in a reader or an email, please click through and let me know what you think. In addition to my new look, I updated my about me page to reflect this new phase of my life and my blog. Times are changing here at Honoring Health and I can not wait to see what the future brings!

Bye for now, I hope you all have an amazing week!
