Before I share my breakfast, I want to express my sincere thanks for your comments on my post about my blogging style. I have always said that what I want to create here is a community that is supportive and that appreciates me for me and that is just what I have achieved. I don’t get hundreds of comments each day and I don’t make a living doing this but what I do get far outweighs any of that. I have the best blog readers in the whole wide web and that means so much to me. Thank you all for embracing me being unapologetically me. I will say it again:
“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.” — Dr. Seuss
Now, onto breakfast.

This morning, I did not want to get out of bed at all! I didn’t wake up until 6:15 which only allows me 15 minutes of peel my eyes open time! Luckily, it was still plenty of time to make a good breakfast. After my session with Gena on Saturday, I decided to up my fat intake at breakfast and dabble in the world of food combining. So, though my oat bran looks the same as last week, it is a wee different. Namely, no egg or nut butter.

My oat bran contained:
~ 1/4 cup gluten free oat bran
~ 1 cup unsweetened vanilla rice milk
~pumpkin
~tbsp coconut oil
~two drops vanilla stevia
~penzy’s cake spice
~ground flax seed
Let me tell you, it was so good! The increased amount of coconut oil and the couple drops of stevia made a ton of difference in the taste and mouth feel. I loved it! And, it seems to be hanging tough this morning! I am prepared with plenty of snacks just in case, though :D
Do you experiment with which foods work best for you? What have you discovered?

Besides the two questions I answered yesterday, I got one more that I found intriguing. I’m not sure why it is relevant to my blog but since I am an open book in most cases, I thought I would answer anyway:
What kind of car do you have?? When do you plan on having children?? What does your home look like/ what does your kitchen look like??
I find this to be a curious line of questioning but I’ll play along.
I drive a Toyota Prius.
My husband and I do not want to have children.
I live in a charming house in the Suburbs, it is white with black shudders and a red door. On the inside, my decorating style is eclectic with bright colors, loads of vintage and antiques and shabby chic charm. But, I am the first to admit to being a clutter bug. :/
My kitchen is small and honestly, if we could afford to remodel it right now, I would be all over it. We do however get lots of compliments on our red cabinets and on how I have decorated it. I don’t like the counter tops, which are tile and I would really like some more counter space.

I can’t answer for sure on the food combining thing yet. I only really started yesterday and I think it takes some time, especially since I am trying to get rid of candida as well. Email if you want to chat more about it.
that’s definitely an interesting line of questioning :) but i’m glad you played along…your house sounds really cute!

I am visiting your blog for the first time and I must say how much I love your honesty! I think it’s great that you are upfront about not wanting to have kids. I am upfront about how hard it is!
I am constantly trying to figure out what the best foods for my are…I have nonstop digestive issues! So far going gluten-free and sugar-free have helped a lot. But nothing is ever perfect, right?

I think the idea of adding fat in at breakfast is a great one. Fat, in combination with unrefined carbs keeps me feeling very full. I’m going to try adding some coconut oil to my oats as well.
Hope you’re having a good day Christie.
Brittany, it kept me satisfied for much longer than I was expecting! I will be upping my fat intake for sure!
I adore coconut oil in oats (this stuff is addicting!) – your brekkie looks great. Hope you are having a lovely start to the week :) I think we may stay clear of the snow today too, yay!

I think it’s SO important to experiment with food combinations to see what works best for each of us! Something that gives one person a huge amount of energy might make another person feel sluggish. The only way to find out is if we try lots of new things :)

Hello My Luv!
Aw, look, the dear husbands first comment!
Hello back, my love!
such a sweet DH
I could never be happy on a low-fat diet – fat is what saves me from eating everything in the house. A tablespoon of peanut butter makes a huuuuge difference.

I truly do appreciate you for being so open and honest–and while I’m fairly new to your blog, I’ve grown to look forward to your posts, and I read them with as much sincerity and seriousness as they deserve :)
I miss pumpkin!! I can’t find any around here :( I haven’t done the whole “food combining experiment” mainly because I do know what keeps me full. I am curious sometimes if there’s a “more ideal” way for me to be eating, but then I think that goes down the wrong path…I don’t want to mess with anything at the moment. I think it’s very interesting to try it though!
