Weirdest Breakfast in Blogland

Ok, so I admit that the breakfast I am about to show you is a bit on the odd side but, you must admit, it is also pretty darn creative. For some reason, I woke up craving cold cereal and since most pre-made cereals are sweetened, I didn’t have any in the house. What I did have was brown rice cakes.

Yep, I made cereal out of brown rice cakes. I crumbled them up, sprinkled them with cinnamon and topped them off with unsweet vanilla almond milk. Crazy, I know, but it was actually pretty darn tasty and it satisfied my cereal craving. For a little protein action, I also had a hard boiled egg on the side.

We have a busy day today including meal planning, a session with Gena, a trip to the salon and then grocery shopping at Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s. We did get a little snow fall last night but thankfully, not nearly enough to keep up home for the day. Which is a good thing because I might have lost my marbles if I was house bound again!

What is the most creative breakfast you have ever made?

I hopped on the ask me anything bandwagon and am excited about what you guys want to know. So, go ahead, ask me anything!

I think that’s a super creative way to eat brown rice cakes and one I might try. I’m not a huge rice cake fan – I think they have a strange aftertaste – but I ate one every morning spread with PB on my way to the gym for 2 years.

Have you tried Erewhon brown rice cereal? I think it has 1g of sugar (not sure if that’s OK or not). It’s tasty, too.

I’m interested to hear how your consulation goes with Gena! :)

I would have never thought to crumble up rice cakes and use it as cereal! Great idea!

I don’t think I’ve anything creative for breakfast. I’m a pretty basic gal :)

smart to use rice cakes that way! i hven’t had rice cakes in forever but your breakfast looks awesome so maybe i’ll pick up some. hmm, i don’t think my breakfasts are ever unconventional, but i do get excited when i have extra time in the mornings to make something special like oat pancakes or something!

Wow that’s really creative!!
I can’t have cereal in the house because I’ll eat the whole thing in about a day! But that’s perfect for a cereal craving!

That breakfast looks good to me!

I’ve had brown rice and veggies for breakfast before — but I do like my cereal :)

Good idea. I have eaten cereal with water on it when I was out of milk before!

Your breakfast sounds tasty! Applesauce and Ritz crackers was my most creative. I was running late and needed some filling.

Yesterday, I figured out how to make tea-infused oatmeal, which I thought was pretty unique and unusual since I hadn’t seen it on the blogs before. I made earl gray oatmeal and it was dee-lish! Here’s the how-to if you want to try: http://thechiclife.com/2010/02/how-to-cook-tea-infused-oatmeal.html
