Homemade Pecan Butter

I’ve been seeing some of my favorite bloggers make their own nut butters and decided to give it a try myself. The process is really simple and I’m pretty sure it would work with most any nut. Since I already had a jar of natural peanut butter and raw almond butter, I decided to make pecan butter. I’ve never seen pecan butter in stores but I did seeĀ Heather make it so I followed her lead.

Homemade Pecan Butter

Makes a 16 ounce jar

1 lb raw pecans

1/4 tsp sea salt

Preheat the oven to 350*. Once the oven is hot, put the pecans on a baking sheet and roast them in the oven until they are fragrant, about 10 minutes. Be careful not to burn the nuts, they go from fragrant to burnt really fast. Remove the nuts from the oven and allow them to cool briefly. Add the nuts to the bowl of your food processor.

Let the nuts process for about 5 minutes. In the first couple of minutes, you may want to scrape down the side with a spatula. One minute, you will think you are making flour and then all of a sudden, you will have fresh nut butter.

Once it is the texture you want, pour it into a clean jar and store in the refrigerator.

Very cool! I wish I had a food processor, I don’t think the magic bullet could handle nut butter.

That looks so yummy and I’m excited, as I have a food processor I ordered coming in the mail this week. Homemade nut butters are most certainly on the top of the list and I hadn’t thought of pecan.

Mmmmm, that pecan butter looks amazing. I just got a huge bag of pecans on sale, and was wondering about doing this myself, I’ve never actually seen it done. I might have to try it!

Hi Susan,

I just used the regular blade. I just got mine too, I can’t wait to do more “processing”!
