I started yesterday out with a bowl of my usual custard oat bran with chocolate chips and cashew butter. I noticed that I will soon be forced to try a new topping combo because I am almost out of cashew butter!! I have a rather large stock of almond butter though so it won’t be a huge tragedy.

Work was much more relaxed for the first time in weeks. Our IT issues are finally starting to be resolved although I still spent most of the day in meetings. At lunch time, I had a camera shy salad made by The Chef and tuna salad with lettuce, tomato, colby jack cheese all piled high on a whole wheat wrap. I brought the tuna salad from home and it was delicious. Sometimes, it is the simplest meals that taste the best.

After work, I met Kristin for dinner at Ukrop’s. For some reason, I was having a major craving for bread so I went with it. I ordered a crabcake sandwich which ended up being served on an english muffin instead of a kaiser roll. I was dissapointed but I guess those things happen.

To drink, I was inspired by Courtney to try a Synergy drink. I must say, I was pretty dissapointed in it. Kristin got one too and we were both surprised at how it tastes like vinegar. Courtney has assured me that this is normal and that maybe I should have gone with grape or strawberry to start with. I will give them another try if I can find those flavors and let you all know what I think.

For dessert, I had a little banana pudding that I picked the bananas out of because they weren’t ripe.

Despite all of the mishaps with the food and beverage, I really enjoyed chatting with Kristin before we went to group. Once we got to group, my mood really changed. The topic was menses and sexuality which are not welcome topics for me. I won’t go into the details of why here but rest assured that it provided me with lots of therapy material for weeks to come.
Once I got home, I was feeling very munchy and decided to have my safety net munch food popcorn. I hope to one day decide to write in my journal or do some art but in some cases, those things just don’t feel like options yet. On the bright side, I didn’t grab a jar of nutella with chocolate crackers and make myself sick.
Question: What food or drink have you read about in blogland and then felt dissapointed when you tried it?

Hahahha … Synergy! So it had nothing to do with our lack of follwing directions re: shaking before opening? Bummer.
Tofu is the food I always read about and then try and I just can’t get into it.
i’ve been wanting to try those drinks, but haven’t found them yet.
I haven’t tried much yet that I haven’t liked, but I’m sure I’ll find something :)

I would have to say Lara Bars. Although I do like them, they’re not as great as I thought!
So far I haven’t been disappointed by any products others
have recommended, but I am also very unpicky with foods
and love almost everything! So I don’t think I count :)
Your custard oats look delicious and filling! I need to jump
on the bandwagon with those!

I would have to say I was disappointed in wheatberries. Maybe I cooked them wrong but I am willing to give them another try if anyone has suggestions.

Hi there, I just found your blog and I am looking forward to reading more!
I have been wanting to try kombucha too, I am a little nervous though since they are pretty pricey! I will probably try just one and see how it goes from there! And I have been disappointed with a few bars that I have seen around the blog-world, and then when I tried them.. they tasted way too artificial for me! But hey, to each her own :)

the Synergy drinks are kinda funny like that – kinda funny tasting, i find. i think when i first tried one a while ago i started with either the grape or the grapefruit. i wasn’t overly impressed, but i didn’t really dislike it either. then i found myself craving another one just a few days later – it was too funny! the grape is pretty good, and i think they have some new “exotic” flavors out now as well that i want to try. mmmmmm!
popcorn is my “it’s a-okay” munchie food, too. i think i love it ’cause the process of making it stovetop is fun for me – and i really love that i can eat a whole bowl full and not feel bad about it. i’ve even been known to toss a handful of pretzels in the bottom of my popcorn bowl so that when i’m all done the popcorn i’ve got little salty-crunchy surprise waiting for me! yay!
definitely agree that sometimes the simplest meals are the best. oh yeah, and i had read about these double-chocolate-chip-peanut-butter cookies from Eat, Drink, & Be Vegan – heard they were rock’n and i found them to not be so much. disappointedface, fo ‘sho!

I don’t know what it is about your breakfast pictures – but your chocolate chips always look HEAVENLY! :)

I was a little disappointed in the fruity Synergy drinks too, but because I actually like the odd vinegar-y taste the Green one has. I guess I’m just an odd one. I think the strawberry tasted just like soda, which didn’t do it for me.

I’ve seen those Synergy drinks so many times on Courtney’s and other peoples’ blogs that it’s got me really curious about what exactly it is. The bottle looks all fancy shmancy.
Tough question – I have seen a ton of things I would love to try (right now especially different kinds of PB with flavorings) but I can’t get hold of them here (I live in Sweden). So I have yet to try any of the products that I’ve read about or that have been hyped about in blogland. :/
OMG that banana pudding looks divine.

Well, I would say I am definitely avoiding the vinegar synergy.
I was disappointed by Barney Butter, but only because I don’t like sweet nut butters. It was fun to bake with, just not good for eating. Oh and larabars. Not a fan!

Um. no thanks to drinking vinegar. Your tuna salad looks great though!
Sorry about the bad subject matter tonight.. I can definitely understand that. I hope you have a great day tomorrow though..and go ahead and enjoy some Nutella. :)

I also tried those Synergy drinks and yes it had a vinegar taste, I thought it reminded me more of almost fermented wine but in a rotting sort of way…nice huh? I still have the other one in my fridge…I bought 2 for $5 at Whole Foods…So, I guess that is my disapointment…oh and the Odwalla Banana Nut bar…tasted like chemical banana. :( And I am so NOT a picky girl with food!
Oh and popcorn is always an OK food with me!!!
I think one disappointment (although, not a total disappointment, just over hyped) was the White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Clif bar. Everyone rave it tasted like a cookie, like a donut, etc. Um, no. It tasted like a clif bar, it was not like eating the piece of heaven that a real white chocolate macadamia nut cookie is. It wasn’t bad, but overhyped!

It’s mostly various kinds of bars that people have raved about and then I’ve tried and found to be ….eh. I’ve also been pretty disappointed in the two kinds of Natually Nutty peanut butters I’ve tried. So sad because I ordered about 8 jars of various kinds! It’s a good think my family likes peanut butter oatmeal cookies.
